Happy Chanukah!

Chag sameach and happy Chanukah!

If you missed last Friday night’s service and festivities at PTS, you missed a wonderful experience.

The service was a delight, with Rabbi Feder leading the children in lighting their own chanukkiyot; the dozens of flickering candles made the evening a blessing. (The hilarious play depicting Judah Maccabee, the cleansing of the Temple and the miraculous finding of the last jar of anointed olive oil, added tremendously to the mirth and merriment.)

Following the service was the Latke Fry and Dreydel Spin, sponsored by the PTS Brotherhood and Sholom Women. Members of Brotherhood showed up at the Temple kitchen at 4:00 pm to begin the frying. Alas, 36 boxes of potato pancake mix weren’t enough, once the children and congregation discovered how delicious the latkes were. (Come to think of it, even 360 boxes might not have been enough. The latkes were good.)

Our thanks to the Brotherhood members who participated in the latke frying, serving and clean-up – you helped make Chanukah truly memorable for our congregation and the community. A special thanks to Fred Sturm, Brotherhood president, for coordinating and orchestrating the annual latke fry.
