The January Bulletin’s Brotherhood Column

December was a very exciting month, with our Temple ablaze with dozens of Chanukiyot being lit in the sanctuary as we all celebrated the first night of Chanukah.

Great family fun was enjoyed at the Oneg, which featured our annual Brotherhood Latke Fry and Sholom Women’s Dreidel Spin, root beer floats and other goodies.

Early in December we delivered a truck load -- actually, an SUV load -- of new toys to the Jewish Family and Children’s Services of the Peninsula. We made many children happy and “thank you” to the families whose generosity made this act of kindness such a great success.

Already, it’s January and we are planning our Purim Carnival for March 4. Plan to attend a great day of games, prizes, food and fun for all the children. It’s a great time to share with your children and, as usual, we are looking for volunteers to help with the Carnival. To help out, please get in touch with Scott Urman; his address is Scott.Urman {at} comcast.net. [Substitute the @ symbol for the {at}.]

Brotherhood would also like to extend an invitation to our February 8th “Men’s Night.” We have a speaker from the Israeli Defense Forces coming to give us an informative and exclusive insiders’ look as to what it is to be a member of one of the most advanced, elite fighting forces in the world. We will also hear about the changing face of “war” in Israel.

In closing, I wish to extend a heartfelt welcome to the many men and their families who have recently joined our PTS family. I look forward to meeting all of you and welcoming you personally to our Brotherhood events.

L’Shalom,
In Brotherhood

Fred Sturm
Brotherhood President
