Kebabs on July 9

Last night, the PTS Brotherhood board met at Amici's in San Mateo, and a did a lot of work on planning 2007-2008 events.

We have a wonderful season in store, starting with the SF Giants Jewish Heritage Night on Aug. 8, and then a family BBQ and back-to-school swim party, joint events with Congregation Beth El and Peninsula Temple Sinai, golf tournament, poker tournament and much much more. Details will be forthcoming, once the dates are finalized.

Also at the meeting, we welcomed David Silberman as our new Brotherhood recording secretary, and learned that our golf tournament and Mother's Day fundraisers were very successful. Afterwards, a number of us walked over to B Street Billiards for fun and games.

We urge all of you to become involved with helping us plan and execute these great events. Please join us for our next meeting on Monday, July 9, 6:00pm, at Mediterranean Kebab, 1318 Burlingame Ave., Burlingame. See you there!

Calling the Mitzvah Milers

You are invited to participate in the first Mitzvah Milers bike ride on the Peninsula on Sunday, June 10th.

Approx. 30 miles, approx. 3 hours (plus post-ride coffee), 1200 feet of gentle climbing, sociable pace. Meet at Gunn High School parking lot, at 8:15am for an 8:30am departure. (Gunn is at 780 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto. Park at the back, near the tennis courts, away from the buildings).

Ride down Foothill into Stevens Canyon until the road becomes a dirt trail, then reverse. Possible scenic detour through Loyola and residential Los Altos on the return trip. Socialize at Starbucks on Main Street, Los Altos, before returning to Gunn.

Stevens Canyon can be cooler than the valley floor, so bring a light second layer. To sign up or learn more, contact Neil Heller, neilheller {at} comcast {dot} net.

>> Update 6/6: The start location for the ride has been changed to Congregation Kol Emeth, 4175 Manuela Ave., Palo Alto.
