Labor Day softball and picnic!

What should you do on Labor Day? Play softball, of course, and join PTS for its 2nd annual family softball game and picnic!

This year, we're meeting on Monday, Sept. 3, up at Cuernavaca Park in Burlingame. That's at the corner of Hunt and Alcazar, just up the street from PTS.

The picnic begins at 11:30 — it's a BYOP (bring your own picnic lunch). PTS Brotherhood is bringing drinks for everyone.

Then, pick up your glove and bat at 12:30 for the softball game. Please bring any/all softball equipment, thanks!

The teams are the Latkes and the Hamentashen. Which team will you play on?

Bike riding on Aug. 19

Sunday, Aug. 19 Bike Ride: Come join the Mitzvah Milers Cycling Club on a 25-28 mile ride with some hills in the first half and a manageable pace throughout.

You'll start on the Stanford campus, ride up Sand Hill Road, then down Alpine Road, then right on Arastradero to enter the neighborhoods of Los Altos Hills.

Next, you'll take those quiet neighborhood streets all the way to Mountain View, then return to Stanford on the Foothill Expressway, stopping off at Peet's in Los Altos near the end. Gather at 8:15 am for an 8:30 am departure on "The Oval" at Stanford.

Directions: From US-101, take the University Avenue exit at Palo Alto. Take University all the way through downtown Palo Alto, straight on through the underpass under El Camino Real, and through the main gates and onto the Stanford campus, where University Avenue changes names to Palm Drive. Take Palm Drive straight to the end, enjoying the view of Memorial Chapel in the distance. At the end of Palm Drive there's a loop ("The Oval") with parking. Don't use a meter; use an "A" parking space, which is free and open to the public on Sundays.

It should be a beautiful day for a ride, and everyone is welcome.

Amici's Pizza on Sept. 4

Please join us for our next PTS Brotherhood leadership meeting: Tuesday evening, Sept. 4, beginning at 6:00pm. We're meeting at Amici's East Coast Pizzeria, 69 Third Avenue, San Mateo (between El Camino Real and San Mateo Drive) for dinner and a brief working meeting, followed by billiards.

Everyone is welcome to attend. We'll be planning events for the busy back-to-school season, and talking about the many functions we have coming up this fall and winter. And then, we'll go shoot some pool. Doesn't get better than that!
