Time to renew your Brotherhood membership

You may not have known this, but PTS Brotherhood operates on the same "fiscal" calendar as Peninsula Temple Sholom. That is, our year runs from July through June.

Guess what? It's July! That means it's time to renew your PTS Brotherhood membership. You can download the 2007-2008 membership renewal form here, or contact me at alan {at} zeichick {dot} org and I'll be happy to e-mail the form to you.

Thank you for your support of Brotherhood. Thanks to you, we're able to put on great programs for our members and serve the entire PTS community (including the Religious School). Even if you're not able to personally participate in many of our events, we appreciate that you maintain your PTS Brotherhood membership!

A tremendous year for PTS Brotherhood!

Have we got a year for YOU! The PTS Brotherhood leadership has been busy, busy, busy planning events for 2007-2008, and the list is LONG.

Here's what we've been planning, and it's time for you to get involved! Put these events on your calendar for attending, and also talk to us about participating behind the scenes.

We could use your help in planning these events, some of which are purely social for our Brotherhood members, and others of which are designed to serve the entire Peninsula Temple Sholom Community.

And now, a drum roll for our many 2007-2008 events:

More Mitzvah Miles this Sunday

Calling all cyclists!

Following last month's very successful ride (19 attended!), the Mitzvah Milers are riding again. Mitzvah Milers is a tzedakah-oriented bicycling group based in Berkeley, but as you can see, they like the Peninsula too!

This is approx. 28 miles, 3 hours (plus post-ride coffee), 1000 feet of gentle climbing, sociable pace. Meet at the intersection of 92 & Canada Road at 8:15 am for a prompt 8:30 am departure. Park on Canada Road, on the South side of 92 (Canada Road terminates at 92).

This route will be a great tour of some of the most beautiful and quiet roads in Woodside and Portola Valley.

We will ride down Canada Road, turning right onto Olive Hill, then working our way over to Trip Road and Highway 84. We will then turn onto Portola Road , and turn right when we reach Willowbrook Road. Our return will be via Alpine, Portola, Mountain Home & Canada Roads. Socialize & coffee at the Woodside Bakery before the final stretch on Canada Road.

A special Shabbat for Rabbi Feder

Can you believe it's been a year already since Rabbi Daniel Feder joined our congregation? It has, and what a wonderful year it's been!

On behalf of the PTS Brotherhood, I would like to invite you and your family to a very special Shabbat service this Friday night, July 6th, beginning at 7:00 pm in the main sanctuary.

Come celebrate this joyous occasion and continue celebrating with us at the Oneg in his honor following the service. The Oneg is sponsored by the PTS Transition Committee — that’s the group of volunteers who helped organize all the events celebrating Rabbi Feder’s arrival last summer.

We’ll also have some special comments from Karen Wisialowski, our temple’s president, marking this important milestone.

Please join us for this early service, and stay for the special Oneg. We look forward to seeing you there!
